Johor Area Rehabilitation Organisation (JARO)

Johor Area Rehabilitation Organisation (JARO) is a rehabilitation organisation and workshop dedicated to serving individuals with physical, intellectual, and visual disabilities. Established in 1970, JARO's mission is to rehabilitate differently-abled people by providing comprehensive vocational training and assisting them to obtain employment in mainstream workplaces.

JARO operates a sheltered workshop that provides employment in a supportive work environment, focusing on giving rehabilitees independence and dignity. The organisation offers vocational training in various skills including sewing and other practical work skills, enabling individuals with disabilities to develop employable capabilities.

Beyond vocational training, JARO serves as a day activity centre where individuals can work in a sympathetic environment tailored to their needs. The organisation is committed to helping people with disabilities transition into normal employment where possible, whilst also providing ongoing supported employment opportunities for those who benefit from a more accommodating workplace setting.

As a registered charity with tax exemption status, JARO welcomes donations to support its mission of changing the lives of people with disabilities in Johor Bahru.
