Oaklynn Special School

Oaklynn Special School is a comprehensive special education provider in New Lynn, Auckland, serving students with special needs across a wide age range from new entrants through to tertiary level. The school operates multiple satellite locations throughout West Auckland, including sites at Arahoe, Green Bay, Avondale, Kelston, and Rosebank.

The school's approach is grounded in te ao Māori values, with hauora (well-being) and ako (teaching and learning) at the centre of their work. Their guiding principles include whanaungatanga (creating belonging), awhinatanga (empathy and caring), and manaakitanga (integrity and equity). All relationships within the community are built on respect, care, trust, and empathy.

Oaklynn offers a comprehensive range of services including:

• Junior, Senior, Intermediate, and High School programmes across multiple locations
• Te Piringa Base School classes and Base Tertiary hub
• Tertiary classes in central New Lynn
• Multidisciplinary therapy team including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and vision specialists
• Specialist programmes in arts, dance, and music
• Specialist Teacher Outreach Service (STOS) supporting mainstream schools

The school is led by Principal Louise Doyle and a comprehensive senior management team dedicated to supporting ākonga and their whānau.
