Acorn Neurodiversity is a not-for-profit organisation providing integrated, multidisciplinary support for neurodivergent children and young people in Auckland. Founded in 2018, Acorn offers what they describe as a gold-standard model of care for families navigating autism, ADHD, FASD, sensory processing differences, developmental delays, dyspraxia, giftedness, and language processing differences.
The organisation operates from two purpose-designed centres and provides services in homes, schools, and clinical settings. Their team of experienced clinicians works collaboratively across disciplines to deliver coordinated, holistic support focused on building skills, confidence, and meaningful participation in everyday life.
Acorn's approach is grounded in evidence-based, neuroaffirming practice that celebrates each person as an individual. They prioritise self-advocacy and inclusion in schools and the community, whilst supporting the principles of Enabling Good Lives including self-determination, person-centred care, and mana-enhancing practice.
Originally established as Acorn Autism, the organisation transitioned to Acorn Neurodiversity in 2021 to reflect a broader, more inclusive understanding of neurodiversity. Their mission is to empower neurodivergent young people with the tools they need to reach their potential, working towards a future where all neurodivergent people can fully participate, belong, and thrive in Aotearoa.
