Psychological Services
The Psychology Centre at The University of Waikato is a university-affiliated clinic providing psychological assessment and treatment services to individuals and families across the Waikato region. The centre operates as a model of best-practice psychological care while serving as a training facility for senior clinical psychology students.
The clinical team comprises seven registered clinical psychologists supported by supervised senior students from the University of Waikato's Clinical Psychology Training Programme. Led by Clinical Director Joshua Myers, who brings extensive experience in child, adolescent, and family health, the centre offers evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to individual needs.
Services include comprehensive psychological assessments, therapeutic treatment, and specialised support for children, adolescents, and adults. The centre accepts referrals from multiple sources including self-referrals, health providers, ACC, and maintains relationships with Te Whatu Ora for clients eligible for publicly funded mental health services. Beyond direct client care, the centre provides consultancy, supervision, and tailored education for qualified practitioners and other health professionals seeking to enhance their psychological practice skills.
