Learning Support
Literacy Intervention Therapy, Working With Disability provides specialised literacy support for individuals with disabilities across all ages, from early childhood through to adulthood. Founded by Jackie, an educator with personal and professional experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disability (ID), the service offers a unique, flexible approach to literacy development.
The programmes focus on three core areas: reading, writing, and comprehension. Rather than using rigid commercial programmes, the service employs flexible, multisensory teaching techniques tailored to each client's learning style and abilities. Reading instruction develops alphabet awareness, phonic knowledge, blending sounds, vocabulary building, and decoding skills. Writing programmes use a developmental, multisensory approach covering letter formation, handwriting, and independent word writing. Comprehension support incorporates vocabulary development, the Colourful Semantics framework, and meaningful real-life scenarios relevant to each client's interests.
Social communicative skills are interwoven throughout each learning experience to encourage the development of social relationships. The service is particularly suited to individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and other learning challenges who benefit from personalised, adaptive teaching methods.
